MODERN FURNITURE TODAY - TO CHINA OR NOT

Authentic Modern Italian Designer Furniture

Italian-style furniture made in China is widely distributed online. However, there is a huge difference between the quality of furniture made in China and the quality of furniture made in Italy, Canada, Latin America, and the United States. China is making better quality every year, but there is no comparison between the extraordinary quality produced by Italy, and copies of Italian furniture made in China.

European quality is disappearing as China floods the market with cheap imitations called knock-offs. They make small changes to get around copy right laws. Often the wood isn't real, the leather is man-made, and who knows what chemicals are being used. And nothing could be more unfair to the original designers.

1 Contemporary Furniture (http://www.1contemporary.com/) has held on to high-end European quality for over ten years - like Natuzzi, Italy and Excelsior Designs, and Stone International. At the same time we offer a few carefully selected collections of Italian-style furniture made in China.

Where do you as a consumer stand on the issue? Would you rather pay a higher price for the best quality made in the west, or would you rather purchase substandard quality for the lowest price made in China? This question is haunting furniture dealers nation-wide as China takes more and more market share each year. Most of our customers want authentic Italian quality.

"We have buried three western factories this year. The biggest and the best like Laurier Furniture of Canada. Laurier had been making quality real wood furniture for over 55 years. Its very painful to see them close the doors. Customers loved Laurier maple wood furniture," says Gill Fisher, President of 1 Contemporary Furniture.

Italy and Brazil are complaining about China's devalued currency. And no doubt why. "The low price offered by China is unreal. No one in the world can compete with China on price," says Gill.
